The SRC held it's Holiday Luncheon on Friday, December 5th at the Crestwood Village Clubhouse. It was a wonderful gathering of friends and good food.

Brad Stone, a local docent and historian shared how
Christmas evolved from colonial times in America to the holiday it is today. He focused on how the American Civil War played a fundamental role in shaping our modern Christmas – everything from our image of Santa Claus to exchanging gifts.

After his presentation he offered copies of his book for sale. That book, Hooves, Paws, and Claws for the Cause: Animals in the Civil War, was recently published by the National Museum of Civil War Medicine. https://www.civilwarmed.org/nmcwm/)

On October 8th the SRC held its annual meeting. We had a great speaker who talked about the new addition to
Monocacy Village Park, Asbury SeniorScapes (https://www.cityoffrederickmd.gov/1861/Senior-Park).
We also held elections for the SRC Board of Directors. It was an informative and fun gathering.
