This year's SRC Picnic will be held Friday, June 5th. Please see the May Newsletter or speak to your activity coordinator for details, and sign up by May 27th.
Many SRC activities are held at the Talley Center, so we wanted to let people know that parking is now restricted on W. Second Street because of street reconstruction. This could take between 4 and 6 weeks to complete. People may wish to allow extra time when parking further away from the center.
The next easy hike is scheduled for Tuesday, May 24th. Gambill Yellow Trail, a shortened version. Please note we will be walking along the ridge with some elevation changes and rocky surfaces. Carpool from Boscov or meet at the top parking lot. Contact Regine at 301-676-0665 to sign up.
Bocce season has begun! Come play pickup games every Sunday at 6 PM at the courts located in Baker Park. You do not have to be a member of the Frederick Bocce Club to participate. These are free and open to the public.
Bocce league teams are set and games are played each Wednesday evening. Come on out and root for your favorite team!
SRC Bocce has use of the courts every Friday morning, 8-noon. Equipment may be borrowed from the recreation desk at the Talley Center.

"If you’ve never tried duckpin bowling, consider giving it a try. We don’t play in teams, we just bowl along with everybody else. We’re all amateurs, though once in a while someone just can’t help bowling like a champ: like this past January, when Susan had 4 strikes in a row! Wow! There she is, front and center in a black diamond vest."
Rick Reid has been our SRC exercise instructor for several months. He continues to find ways to challenge us with new cardio moves and strength training exercises.
Rick has been interested in fitness since his mid-thirties when he began running 10K races, and completed a marathon at 38. When he developed osteoarthritis in both knees he started working out in a gym setting to maintain his cardio health while increasing total body strength through weight training. Upon retirement at 57 Rick pursued certification as a personal trainer, and has been training individuals from the teens up through the nineties. He truly enjoys what he does, and now as a 67-year-old grandfather of 3 has an even greater incentive to stay physically and mentally fit.
